Very good read it ranks up there with one of my favs.  i would have to agree the arm being ripped off while he stops time was pretty cool.  Casuse then when time resumes everyone is freaking out.

I was really affected by that scene.  Just imagine standing somewhere, then an instant later having a gushing bloody stump where your arm should be.  Freaky and sick.
